Genesis Investments focuses on value-add retail property investment opportunities in major metropolitan areas along the Eastern Seaboard from Washington DC, to Miami, Florida where Genesis Real Estate Advisers currently leases and manages more than 2.3 million square feet of retail properties on behalf of its institutional clients. The firm takes advantage of Mark Higgins’ 30 years of experience in institutional real estate investment acquisitions, asset management and finance; as well as Steve Tart’s 30 years of hands-on experience with retail property development, construction, leasing and property management. Genesis Investments will also utilize Genesis Real Estate Advisers’ existing capabilities in retail management, leasing and construction to execute its retail repositioning and value-added strategies.
Mr. Higgins and Mr. Tart met and worked together at Barings, formerly Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, more than 20 years ago in Cornerstone’s Regional Office located in Atlanta, Georgia. At the time, they were responsible for Cornerstone’s Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern equity real estate investment and asset management activities from Washington, DC to Miami, Florida. Despite going separate ways in the real estate industry for many years, they maintained a professional and personal friendship based on trust and mutual respect that generated concepts for a partnership that led to the creation of Genesis Investments.
